We are often asked if the bees die supplying the bee venom for our creams. The answer is most definitely not! Fortunately some very smart person came up with a way to encourage bees to discharge their venom without the bee dying. As you probably know, when a bee discharges its sting it normally dies. A bee keeper came up with a simple and ingenious way to get the bee to sting without them actually losing their stinger. By placing a piece of glass by the hive with a very light electric charge going through it, the bees land on the glass on the way into the hive and are agitated by the electrical charge. They then sting the glass but because the stinger cannot penetrate the glass the bee does not lose its stinger and so does not die.
